The NBA’s Global Expansion Strategy

When Adam silver was in Lille for the Olympics in August, he talked about how the clubs' owners intended to invest more money in basketball around the world. He said again in September that they were ready to look closely at this alternative, but they still don't know what their plan for Europe is. The head of the NBA then said: The Euroleague is a private and almost closed league that began in 2000 after the largest clubs in Europe quit the FIBA (International Federation) to generate more money. Twenty-five years later, it still shines in sports, but most of the individuals who play lose money — unlike The NBA’s Global Expansion Strategy, which focuses on both growth and profitability. According to the specialised media, Real Madrid lost 20.8 million euros in the 2023–2024 season. This is largely because the TV rights are hard to secure, even if the marketing agency IMG inked a deal with them two weeks ago that lasts until the conclusion of the 2035–2036 season, which i...

The Paralympics Breaking Barriers in Sports

Hosting the Olympic Games, whether in the summer or winter, can bring both measurable and unmeasurable social, environmental, and economic benefits to the host country and region. The country and region that hosts the Olympic Games can also reach its sustainability targets faster or even support them along the way. The benefits of applying for the Olympic Games depend on local and national conditions and collaboration among all parties involved. The Paralympics, breaking barriers in sports, emphasize inclusivity and the wider impact of these events.

At strange and amazing times in their history, animal-related sports, the Winter Olympics, and sports that were first played at the Summer Olympics have all been successful. There's little doubt that these are two of the most popular sports at the Winter Olympics. But they came from the Summer Olympics! Figure skating first appeared at the 1908 London Summer Olympics. In 1920, ice hockey finally came to Antwerp after twelve years. But as the Winter Games got closer, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made the right choice and transferred these two sports to the winter schedule. They have stayed there since the first Winter Games in Chamonix in 1924.

There's little question that Norway will keep winning medals until less than a year before Beijing 2022

You might be shocked to find that animals used to be a part of the Winter Olympic Games, even though equestrian activities have always been a component of the Summer Olympic Games. In Scandinavian ski-joering, people wear skis and reins as part of a wooden harness that is attached to one or more animals, such as dogs, horses, or ponies. This sport has only been shown once, at a demonstration sport in St. Moritz in 1928. Three horse-drawn Swiss sleds came in first, second, and third that day.

Bibi Torriani, who came in second, had already won a bronze medal in 1928 while playing ice hockey with a Swiss team in St. Moritz. She did it again in the 1948 Winter Olympics, which were also held in the Swiss resort. The Lake Placid Winter Games in 1932 brought back dog sled racing as a demonstration event. People who created the Innsbruck Winter Olympics have long wanted a machine that could make snow. Of course, this kind of technology didn't exist in 1964, when there wasn't enough snow and ice for the Winter Games to happen!

Getting to the Olympics was hard enough, but winning a medal there is even harder

The Austrian army thankfully stepped in and sent 40,000 cubic meters of snow to the alpine ski slopes and 20,000 slabs of ice to the bobsleigh and luge circuit in the Alps. Innsbruck got the most snow right after these Games ended! Nagano also had a sad ending in 1998, more than twenty years later. In fact, a coating of snow and freezing rain covered the Japanese city, which made the Games organizers have to put off the alpine skiing competition numerous times. Still, everything has to finish, and all disciplines may finally come to an end.

Norway has won 368 medals at the Winter Olympics (132 gold, 125 silver, and 111 bronze), making it the clear leader, even though it is a small state with only five million people. This is because the United States, its nearest competitor, has 305. One may say that Norway has a clear advantage over its opponents because it is the home of various sports, such as Nordic combined and ski jumping. Even though they didn't want to, Norwegian athletes had to compete at the Games, which is the biggest platform in the world.

Marit Bjorgen is a champion athlete in cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympics

She has 15 medals (8 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze) and is in first place. It's like winning two sports in two different seasons! You might be astonished to find out that five athletes have already done this amazing thing. Edward Eagan was the first to do this. He won gold in the four-man bobsled at the Lake Placid Games in 1932 and in men's lightweight boxing at the Antwerp Games in 1920. Jacob Thams from Norway is the Olympic ski jump champion (Chamonix 1924) and the Olympic sailing vice-champion (Berlin 1936).

Christa Luding-Rothenburger, a German, has won two gold and two silver medals in speed skating (Alberville 1992 and Calgary 1988) and another silver medal in track cycling (Seoulan 1988). Canadian Clara Hughes won two bronze medals in road cycling (Atlanta 1996) and one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals in speed skating (Salt Lake City 2002, Turin 2006, and Vancouver 2010). She became a six-time medallist. The United States Lauryn Williams is the most recent person to join the elite group. She won the London 2012 4x100-meter relay, the Athens 2004 100-meter silver medal, and the Sochi 2014 women's bobsleigh silver medal.
